Mid/later 19th century; heavy square polished ashlar
canopy; round arched at each face, with moulded imposts
and keystoned arches; shallow segmental headed pediments
to each face, with shallow apex linked by crowning ball
finial. Stands on pedestal with dolphin spouts in each
face, surrounded by shallow pool with low shaped and
moulded retaining wall, approached by low steps. Circular
shallow fountain basin stands below canopy. Inscription
to Duchess Elizabeth, 1765-1839 in north pediment.
Sited at top of Fountain Street. Memorial appears on 1st
ed. OS 1873.
