Earlier 19th century, symmetrical SE facing 2-storey, 3-bay
gabled house; grey rubble with contrasting tooled ashlar
sandstone dressings. Slightly advanced narrow centre bay with
centre entrance under pointed-headed fanlight with
intersecting tracery; flanking tripartites. Pointed headed
1st floor windows to front of house, square headed elsewhere.
Later single storey and attic, 2-bay wing to rear; further
later corrugated-iron 2-storey addition, also to rear.
Mutli-pane glazing; apex cross to centre gable; coped end
stacks; roof gabled in front, and piended platform to rear,
all slated. Interior; simple moulded ceiling cornices; small semi-circular rear stairwell with slender square wooden
balusters and polished handrail.
Named Balmore on 1st ed. OS 1872. RC priest known to have
ministered from his home at Balmore, before construction
of present church at Marydale, Cannich. Strathglass
traditionally strongly RC.
