Description

Basil Spence, 1937. Unaltered, simple 3-bay single-storey gatelodge repeating 18th century-style detailing of house. Harled ashlar base and margins, slate roof. End stacks. Small asymmetrically disposed openings in end gables. Projecting rear entrance porch and two large gabled dormers. Curved wall (harled and coped) enclosing drying yard behind. 4-and multi-pane sash and case glazing. 4 squat round gatepiers (harled brick) with stone conical caps; curved walls between. Left (S) pier and S wall reduced to only 3 brick courses and copings. (original line maintained by hedge).
