Description

Late 18th century. Sawmill with timber store above,
rectangular plan, sited on ground falling to N. Rubble
sandstone with harl-pointing; ashlar dressings. Metal
plate. Lade no longer substantial and water wheel
removed.
W ELEVATION: 6-bay. 3 doors to left, door flanked by
windows at ground to right with 2 further windows above.
E ELEVATION: water wheel formerly positioned at centre,
large opening to left and buttressed wall to right.
S ELEVATION: low doors to sawmill at ground with wide
and tall doors to store above.
N ELEVATION: sliding doors. Ventilation slit at apex.
Variety of glazing patterns including small-pane
glazing. Droved ashlar coping to skews. Pantile roof
with slate easing course. Red brick stack to NE corner.
