Circa 1870. Single storey, 3-bay farm cottage. Squared
sandstone rubble with stugged ashlar dressings;
chamfered arrises to openings on SE elevation.
SE ELEVATION: gabled porch at centre with mannered
lintel and timber kingpost; 2-leaf boarded door. Narrow
windows in flanking bays and gabled timber dormers
above. Piend-roofed projection at rear given modern
harled extension to W. Blank end elevations.
8-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Timber
eaves brackets, and barge boards to gables. Ashlar
coped end stacks.
Probably by John Farquharson of Haddington, who designed
similar cottages at Eastfield, Whittingehame. Similar to
cottages at Fenton Barns, and possibly taken from
pattern book. Leaston steading to N. Leaston House is
listed below.
