Description

Circa 1840-50 2-storey and attic 3-window with two canted
dormers, original glazing, later porch. Blue stucco. Single
storey out buildings.

Statement of Interest

C group forming central square. Village Founded 1801 and laid

out by a Mr. Whyte for Ferguson of Pitfour, the only

buildings within the village area at that date being the

alehouse of Sandhole and a farmhouse Kirkton. Grew rapidly

until the stoppage of the wool factory at Millbank in 1828.
