Description

Earlier 18th century pavilion with later stable and
hayloft adjoined, converted for residential purposes.
White painted harl with ashlar dressings.
PAVILION: 1 of pair of ogivally-roofed pavilions,
originally identical; rectangular plan. Forestair
removed; 2 windows to SE elevation to both floors, and
to ground at SW, with 1 1st floor window. Grey slate
ogee roof with scalloped lead flashings; stables adjoined
to NW; wallhead stack.
STABLE AND HAYLOFT: rectangular plan with catslide
addition to NE, adjoined to retaining wall where
blocked segmental carriage arch indicates former
entrance. Irregular windows to SW elevation.
Small-pane glazing patterns in sash and case and fixed
pane windows.

Statement of Interest

The south pavilion to The Manor House is listed with the

villa property. The similarity with James Smith's

pavilion designs at Yester House and Traquair is

pronounced.
