Description

Large single segmental arch, flanked by crenellated refuges.
Large masonry approaches pierced for footpaths, octagonal
flanking features. Joseph Mitchell, C.E., 1861-3.

Statement of Interest

B group with Railway Bridge over Hermitage Road.

Of particular value in the approach to the Hermitage area. In his paper to the British Association 1867 Mitchell records the care that was taken to avoid injury to the scenery.
