Description

16th cent. tower-house extended eastwards in 1608. Harled. Corbie-stepped Slated roof. TOWER: 4 storeyed with turnpike

stair at N.E. corner. EXTENSION: 2 1/2 storeyed; Kitchen in

1st; Hall with great fireplace in 2nd. Pediment dormer

dated 1508 Square stair tower on S. side has angle-turrets

and bartizan above entrance (panel over inscribed

M.I.H./H.O., etc.)

Statement of Interest

Lands of Tulliebole belonged to Herrings from 1490 until

1589 when they were purchased by John Halliday, advocate.

Castle extended for his son John. In later 18th cent. it

passed to Rev. Sir Henry Wellwood-Moncreiff, 8th Bt. in

whose family it remains.
