Statement of Interest

Mahaar School was erected about 1819, according to the THIRD STATISTICAL ACCOUNT. The piended addition to the north-west was added between 1847 and 1893, because it is not marked on the OS Map of 1847, but is marked on the OS Map of 1893. Mahaar School was the original parish school for Kirkcolm; it was closed in 1965. The school has since been incorporated with the schoolhouse to form one dwelling.
