Description

Dated 1823. Squat hexagonal ashlar column with diminutive
crenellation and cusped panelled faces, standing on hexagonal
base of 7 steps. Latin inscription.

Statement of Interest

Commemorates Hon. Caroline Mackenzie, younger daughter of

last Earl of Seaforth, who was killed in pony carriage

accident near this spot. Inscription reads: "HIC FATO UT

FERTUR PRAEDICTO ABREPTA EST FRANCISCI BARONIS DE SEAFORTH
