Description

Built c.1850. 12 wide segmental arches with 2 narrower
arches at each end. Rock-faced coursers. Brick soffits.
Iron parapet railings.

Statement of Interest

On West Lothian OS of 1856 where the railway line is called

the Black-Stone and Boghead (Bathgate) Branch of the

Monkland Railway. In the OS of 1864 the line is called the

Bathgate Branch of the Slammanon and Bo'ness Railway. The

line became part of the North British Railway in 1865.

It is now disused.

A small stretch at NW end of the viaduct is in Stirling County (Muiravonside; item 14).
