Description

Alexander Ross designed as UP Church in Inverness 1863-4,
re-erected in Alness 1900; Decorated Gothic, rubble, tooled
ashlar dressings. Rectangular plan with projecting porch in
west gable, with moulded recessed entrance, nook shafts and
cusped head; flanked by square-headed and hoodmoulded
lancets. 3 hoodmoulded traceried windows in south and north
elevations with alternating buttresses. Very large decorated
traceried window in buttressed east end. Ornamental skewputts;
central ridge fleche; apex finials; slate roof.

Statement of Interest

The church stood at the corner of Union St and Drummond Street Inverness. Congregation moved to new church - The Ness Bank

Church - 1901. Alexander Ross designed the church and

supervised the re-erection. He was a keen freemason.
