Description

Probably c.1790 (James Playfair?) Single-storey with droved
ashlar front; centre door and 2 2-light windows set in
arches of vermiculated rustication. Piend roof.

Statement of Interest

Former lodge of Lynedoch Cottage, which Lord Lynedoch

converted from a farmhouse before 1789 possibly to designs

by J. Playfair. C.H. Tatham exhibited designs for it at the

R.A. in 1807-09. W.H. Playfair did work there 1832 (Plans,

Edinburgh University)

Abandoned after Lord Lynedoch died and later demolished.

Thatched: photograph in ruinous state and sketch of it

complete as in 1850 in Graham Murray sketch book in Sandeman

Library Perth. Old farmhouse in centre with 3 swept

dormers and conservatory in front. Single storey asymmetrical

wings; log colonnate to E. See also The Beautiful Mrs.
