Description

Early 19th century, single storey octagonal building sited on slightly raised platform overlooking the Kyle of Tongue. Harled rubble, tooled ashlar margins. Centre door in west face, flanked by windows, with further windows in north and south facets. Tall rear margined and corniced wallhead stack octagonal piended slate roof; stumpy lead finial. Drystone coped retaining wall to raised site.

Statement of Interest

Stands not far from ferry pier; now superceded by causeway crossing Kyle. Small round now roofless building on west side of Kyle by the ferry pier at Achuvoldrac appears to link with Tongue lookout and probably served as shelter/signal station.
