Description

Late 18th century with modern additions and alterations on conversion to residential use. Single storey and attic, U-plan former stables and coach house. White-painted harl with ashlar margins and dressings.

S ELEVATION: 7 near-symmetrical bays. Pedimented, entrance bay slightly-advanced at centre. Broad, ashlar, round-headed carriage arch; keystone, impost stones; pediment breaking eaves; arch head infilled with timber boarding. 3 flanking bays; block to right, symmetrical outer bays, window at ground, gabled dormerheaded windows; middle bay off-centre to right, door at ground, bipartite window directly under eaves. Block to left, swept dormerheaded windows, quadripartite to outer left, bipartite to right. Bipartite window at ground right, modern door at centre, carriage opening blocked as bipartite window to ground outer left.

W ELEVATION: 7 asymmetrical bays; swept, bipartite, dormerheaded windows; doors at ground with steps and plain iron railings.

COURTYARD ELEVATION: ashlar round-headed arch; bay to outer left, swept dormerhead, window at ground; single storey bay built in re-entrant angle to right. Single storey wings to right and left; modern French doors and windows.

Modern, multi-paned casement and top-hopper windows. Slate roof; tall, harled and coped, wallhead stacks.

Statement of Interest

The courtyard has rendered, long planters with gravelled ground and flagstone paths. Ardenconnel House is listed separately.
