Description

1830-40. 2-storey and attic, wide 4-bay house with 2-storey rear wing. Squared dark whinstone, painted ashlar margins and dressings. Harled return gable and rear elevation.

Wide corniced pilastered doorpiece with centre entrance and margined multi-pane side lights; circa 1900 panelled door. Later bipartite in each outer bay (note painted later concrete sills). Regular lst floor fenestration. Late l9th century canted wallhead dormer in each outer bays; plate glass timber sash and case glazing.

Corniced end stacks (shared at E with No 2 George Street); slate roof; stone ridge.

GARDEN WALLS: high coped rubble garden wall separates garden from Castle Street and 62 Castle Street.
