Description

Alexander Ellis, architect, dated 1870 and built as 1 with the

neighbouring church. 2-storey, asymmetrical 3-bay house abutting church and together forming L-plan. Dark whinstone, grey ashlar dressings and margins (as church). Centre entrance flanked at right with bay window and left by canted bay window rising full height terminating as facetted spire. Plate glass and 4-pane timber sash and case glazing. Corniced end stacks; slate roof.

Statement of Interest

Inscribed over porch: 'Mount Carmel AE 1870'. The initials AE could stand for the architect. The church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, is listed separately.
