Description

David Sturrock of Glasgow.
School, opened 25.8.1896. Stone-built and with gothic
detailing. Symmetrical single storey 5-bay roadside (west)
elevation has mullioned windows, paired cross-windows in
advanced outer gables; 2-stage square central tower has main
entrance at foot, belfry stage, wall-head gablets with
clock faces, red-tiled and finialed steep pyramidal spire.
Eaves string course continued and stepped as
(segmental-arched) hood-moulds over gable windows,
quatrefoils and timber frames at gable heads. Axial
stacks; slate roofs with ridging tiles.
