1923 rebuild of obelisk first erected in early 18th century.
All grey ashlar. Tall square plinth with deeply moulded cornice
bearing tapering obelisk, stands on wide circular base with
coped rubble retaining wall.
Now stands centre of <> park. Plaque records tha<> Obelisk
erected by George, 1st Earl of Cromartie, who died 27 Aug
1714 aged 84, and who was buried not far from the site.
Rebuilt by Sibell, Countess of Cromartie, and memorial plaque
renewed by Roderick Earl of Cromartie in 1776. 1st obelisk
was 57' high with 6' square base
