Description

1867. Single storey cottage, former school. Random sandstone
with stugged ashlar dressings.
S ENTRANCE FRONT: projecting gabled porch with coping and
skewputts; side windows and 2 to left. Paired window in
advanced gable to right, with circular louvred openings in
square dated panel in gable head.
N ELEVATION: gabled E end with paired windows, left window
altered as door, and louvred openings as above. 2 large, well
spaced windows to right.
Small-pane glazing pattern to sash windows. Slate roof, swept
at eaves. Simple barge boarding and timber brackets. Brick
ridge stack. Decorative wrought-iron gable finials.

Built prior to the Education Act. Latterly a Reading Room.
