Description

Walter Newall, circa 1820, with additions. Neo-Tudor
villa. Single storey, L-plan service wing at N built in
2 phases, and with basement. Rubble-built with ashlar
dressings, chamfered reveals and shaped skews; some
windows hood-moulded; all painted. Slate roofs.
Original house: NW (entrance) and SE long walls 5 and 3
bays respectively, and each with advanced central gable
(that to NW a porch with Tudor-arched door) with
engaged octagonal shafts at angles rising to support
dummy flues; SW end with gabled bay similarly treated
and with canted window. String at cill level. Sash
windows, mostly with 12-pane glazing. L-plan wing with
gabled dormer heads at ground and bipartites, 3 small
basement lights face SE; NW return built of brick.
