Description

Late 17th century. Circular-plan, battered 2-stage dovecot. Random rubble with harl-pointing. ashlar rat-course dividing stages at mid-point. Ashlar gabled hoodmould over tiered arrangement of 6 flight holes at SE side in upper level. Narrow doors at ground on E and N side, timber lintels and jambs. Corbelled stone slate conical roof finished with rounded boss finial.

INTERIOR: not seen 1992.

Statement of Interest

The dovecot is located to the N of Bonnington House against the N corner of the walled garden. The dovecot belongs to the earliest building phase of the house. Bonnington House and the Bonnington sundial are listed separately.
