Description

Earlier to mid 18th century foundation with alterations in mid 19th century. Rectangular-plan walled garden aligned NW-SE; 70 X 60m. Rubble wall with slab coping, ashlar margins and dressings; 19th century low rubble plinth wall with saddleback coping, cast-iron arrowhead railings at N half of SW wall; 2-leaf wooden door at right of railings.

Blocked door at w end of NW wall. Door at N and S end of NE wall. Greenhouse and modern wooden implement shed at N end.

Statement of Interest

The walled garden belonged to Ravelrig house, completely altered and extended in 1926 by Richerdson & McKay.

Ravelrig dovecot, N gates and steading are listed separately.
