Description

Earlier 19th century. 4-storey and attic on raised basement 5-bay tenement. Stugged cream sandstone ashlar with polished ashlar dressings; cornice and blocking course. Regular fenestration. Rusticated basement with base course; panelled door with letterbox fanlight at centre and 20th century porch formed with pair of concrete columns supporting balcony to window above (formerly door) with pilastered and corniced doorpiece. Tile-hung box-dormers.

Rendered rear elevation.

12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slates; rendered stacks.

WALLS AND RAILINGS: rubble wall with concrete coping and modern iron railings retains raised area to front.

Statement of Interest

There were originally perron steps to the front door above the basement. Built together with 1 Portland Street and 21-22 Portland Terrace (see separate listing).
