Later 19th century. Bull-faced squared and snecked sandstone rubble; 3-span bridge; hammer dressed coping. Segmental arches with dressed voussoirs springing from ashlar-fronted, cutwater buttresses, squared rubble soffits.

Maitland Bridge was named after Sir Alexander Charles Ramsay-Gibson-Maitland (1820-76) of Clifton Hall. He was president of the Trustees of the Edinburgh- Linlithgow (Corstorphine area) Turnpike Roads.
