Description

Robert Brown, 1825. 4-storey and basement, 9-bay terraced classical tenement. Sandstone ashlar, rusticated at ground, droved ashlar to basement. Base course, cill band course at 1st floor, cill band at 2nd floor, cill band course at 3rd floor, eaves cornice and blocking course, 4th storey as wallhead attic, moulded architraves to 1st and 2nd floors, ashlar steps and entrance platts oversailing basement.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: timber panelled door with multi-pane fanlight in columned (fluted) and corniced entrance to centre, panelled pilasters flanking round-arched entrances with timber panelled doors and round-arched fanlights (radial to 7th bay) in bays 2nd and 7th bays, windows to remaining bays, regular fenestration above, tall windows at 1st floor, diminishing in floors to attic.

Timber sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing, 15-pane at 1st floor, ridge stacks with terracotta cans, decorative cast-iron railings.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
