Perhaps James Nisbet, late 18th century; altered by Alexander MacGregor, 1862; ground floor shopfront by Robert Paterson, 1885-6. 3-storey and attic, 3-bay former house. Polished cream sandstone ashlar. Ground floor built out over basement with round arches on thin iron colonnettes, fascia and cornice. Upper floors with later wooden architraves. Triglyph frieze, eaves cornice and blocking course. Large gabled timber tripartite dormer at centre.
Timber sash and case plate glass windows; ashlar coped skews; rendered stacks; grey slates.
INTERIOR: not seen 1995.
A Group with Nos 129 and 131, whose original facades formed a unified design, as a significant surviving part of the original fabric of Edinburgh's New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain.
