Description

Built by 1780. Irregular 3-storey and attic, 3-bay tenement on corner site. Coursed rubble. Rendered at ground (part commercial premises). Modern full width box dormer. Return gable with common stair door and windows at centre. Rubble rear elevation.

Timber windows; 12-pane sash and case at 1st floor, tilt and turn at 2nd floor. Ashlar coped skews; corniced rendered stack; grey slates.

INTERIOR: not seen 1995.

Statement of Interest

A Group with 55-63 (odd nos) Rose Street as as a significant surviving part of the original fabric of Edinburgh?s New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain.
