Description

Built by 1780; alterations at ground. Broad 3-storey, 5-bay tenement formerly with workshops at 2nd floor. Coursed rubble. 2 modern shops flank common stair door at ground. At 2nd floor, 10-bay ashlar band, containing 4 blind windows.

Timber sash and case 12-pane windows. Ashlar coped skews; rendered stacks; grey slates.

INTERIOR: not seen 1995.

Statement of Interest

The form of the 2nd floor is particularly interesting, and shown on Kirkwood. A Group with 85-105 (odd nos) Rose Street as as a significant surviving part of the original fabric of Edinburgh?s New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain.
