Description

Circa 1875. 4-storey, 6-bay Baronial tenement. squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; corbel course stepped down to 2nd floor at centre; roll-moulded door surrounds; chamfered reveals.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION; 7-bay at ground. Central doorway and doorways in bays to inner left and right; bipartite windows in bays dividing doorways. Full-height canted window in bay to outer left; dividing cornices; string course over blank tablet at 2nd floor; decorative parapet above 3rd floor, with crowstepped gablet behind. 3-storey canted window in bay to outer left; dividing cornices; string course over blank tablet at 2nd floor; bipartite window at 3rd floor breaking eaves in finialled and crowstepped gablet with inset roundel. Single windows in remaining bays; 3rd floor windows at 4th and 5th bays in breaking eaves in finialled and pedimented dormerheads; crowstepped gables over 2nd and 3rd bays. Round bartizan at 3rd floor to outer left with bipartite window and fishscale conical roof.

W ELEVATION: M-gabled; single window at 3rd floor.

4-pane and plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; lead flashing; corniced wallhead and mutual stacks; moulded cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1990.

Low saddleback wall to street.
