Description

John C Hay, 1880-1881. 4-storey, 4-bay Scottish 17th century style tenement, forming part of curved terrace. Squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; dividing band course above ground floor; corbel table at 3rd floor stepped down to 2nd floor in central bays; chamfered reveals.

E ENTRANCE elevation: central roll-moulded doorway; panelled door; plate glass fanlight; rectangular blank panel set in 1st floor above. Single windows in flanking bays, those at 3rd floor breaking eaves in pedimented and finialled dormerheads. Full-height canted window in bay to outer left, corbelled to square at crowstepped gablehead; floral patera inset. Full-height canted window adjoining building to outer right; pyramidal roof; cast-iron finial. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; central T-section wallhead stack (rendered); coped mutual stacks; moulded cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.

Low saddleback wall to street.
