Description

George McRae, 1881. 4-storey, 5-bay tenement with Baronial details, forming part of terrace. Coursed orange sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; string courses above gorund and 2nd floors; bracketted cills and cornices to 1st floor windows; raised window surrounds; chamfered arrises to doorways; panelled doors; plate glass fanlights. S ENTRANCE elevation: doorway between 2nd and 3rd bays. Doorway odffset to right in 4th bay; single windows above. Full-height canted window in 2nd bay; facetted polygonal roof with iron finial. Full-height canted window in 5th bay; balustraded parapet above; gabletted crowsteps to gable behind; corbelled and corniced gablehead stack. Bipartite windows in 1st bay; pedimented dormerhead with stone finial to 3rd floor window. Single window at ground in 3rd bay; bipartites above; pedimented dormerhead with stone finial to 3rd floor window. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; coped mutual stacks; some original rainwater goods including moulded eaves guttering and hoppers. INTERIORS: not seen 1991.
