Description

George Wilson, 1880. 5-storey, 4-bay tenement, symmetrical above ground, with Scottish 17th century style details, forming part of terrace. Squared and snecked sandstone with contrasting polished ashlar dressings. Base course; cill course at 1st floor; corbel table and string course at 4th floor windows breaking eaves; raised window surrounds; architraved tripartite windows; chamfered reveals; panelled doors; border-glazed fanlights.

N ENTRANCE elevation: 2 roll-moulded doorways with linking pediment in 2nd bay; single windows above; semi-circular pedimented and stone finialled dormerhead to 4th floor window. Roll-moulded doorway with single window flanking to left in 3rd left in 3rd bay; single windows above; semi-circular pedimented and stone finialled dormerhead to 4th floor. Advanced bipartite windows at ground in bays to outer left and right, corbelled to full-height advanced tripartite windows above; square fielded panels above 1st floor windows; shaped cill details to 4th floor windows; dividing cill and string courses; Dutch gables with oculi. Corbelled chimney-breast with inset ciphered panel (AD 1882) between 2nd and 3rd bays. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced wallhead stack with gabletted returns; coped mutual stacks. INTERIORS: not seen 1991.
