Description

Circa 1859-60. Long terrace of 2-bay terraced houses; 2
storeys, attics and basements. Polished ashlar, partly
stonecleaned or painted, channelled at ground. To right;
steps oversailing basement to recessed tripartite
doorpieces timber pilasters flanking doors; glazed side
and fanlights. At No 22-28 tripartite doorpieces and
double-leaf panelled doors; fanlights only to vestibule
doors. Above doors, single light architraved window with
4-pane glazing. To left; 2-storey canted bay window;
front light divided by stone mullion. Moulded band
course at cills; mutule cornice. Plate glass sash
windows. Continuous band course at 1st floor cills,
plain main cornice (mutule over bays); deep plain
parapet (balustraded over bays).
Variety of dormer shapes. Corniced axial stacks, plain
flues, slate roofs. Stugged ashlar rear; Nos 22-28 with
attic storey to rear.
Some surviving decorative cast-iron railings to steps
and gardens, damaged at Nos 10-20.
