Description

Circa 1876. Symmetrical classically detailed villa; 2 storeys and attic, 3-bay facade to Great Western Road. Polished ashlar, painted porch. Centrally placed paired Ionic porch with die and balustrade parapet. Tripartite doorpiece with segmental fanlight. Timber transoms and mullions, leaded glazed panels to door and sidelights. Above door, architraved single light window with consoled cornice. Flanking door; at ground canted windows with balustraded parapet. At 1st floor, architraved corniced tripartite windows, with consoled cornice over centre light. Sash windows, plate glass glazing. Ground floor windows with multi-pane glazing. Continuous band course over ground, continuous strings over 1st floor lintels. Elaborate bracketted timber cornice.

E flank with single light windows, W flank with canted window to ground floor left, corniced and with balustraded parapet. To both flanks, linked corniced wallhead stacks with octagonal flues forming arch over dormer window. Piended slate roof.

Rear elevation, coursed stugged ashlar with M-shaped roofs. Tall wallhead stacks. 2 storey coursed ashlar domestic wing to rear with piended-roofed single storey garage to W.

Low ashlar coped wall supporting cast-iron railings. 2 pairs of square ashlar corniced gatepiers with elaborate wrought-iron gates with monogram IB.
