Description

James M Monro & Son, 1930s. Iron-framed office block at the corner of

Brunswick Street and Wilson Street. 6-storey with 5-bay elevation to Brunswick Street and 3-bay elevation to Wilson Street.

Polished red sandstone, channelled at ground and 1st. Shop fronts to ground with main entrance to centre of Brunswick Street elevation and further goods entrance to extreme right. Incised metal bands over ground floor windows, cornice over 1st. Giant pilaster-strips with

plain incised caps rise from 2nd floor to separate bays. Windows all of equal size, metal framed with 8-pane glazing. Between each floor, bands of incised sandstone. Eaves cornice. Over each pilaster strip die piers with linking balustrade of iron railings, to centre bays block pediment.
