Description

James Miller, 1906, as board school. Tall 3-storey red ashlar block, plain symmetrical front to Cuthbertson Street with shallow advanced ends, recessed parapetted bays on flanks contain entrnaces; main plock U-plan at rear (facing Coplaw Street), recessed centre wall almost totally filled by multi-panel mullioned and transomed enormous windows; by contrast, flanking end walls are entirely blank but for inscription panels and giant pilasters linking upper floors. Otherwise, mostly single windows (sashes, 6-pane glazing pattern) in architraves, bracketted cornice; piended slate roofs; stacks.

2-storey gabled JANITORS LODGE at erst end of Cuthbertson Street front; low playground walls with plain iron railings, intermittent corniced square piers.
