Later 19th century. 3-storey 2-bay snecked cream sandstone rubble tenement with original shopfront and narrow pend at ground. Stugged and polished ashlar margins; stop-chamfered arrises. Pend to outer right (Ninian Bell's Close); door to house with rectangular fanlight deep-set in moulded doorcase to outer left; at centre, roll-moulded ashlar surround for 2-pane plate glass display windows (divided vertically) with cill, and 2-leaf panelled door to left. Upper floors with single windows to left and bipartites to right.
4-pane sash and case timber windows. Grey slates; brick stack. Ashlar skew to right with console skewputt (in effect part of No 32).
In 1857 Jeffrey praised Jedburgh High Street's "many excellent shops with plate glas fronts not surpassed byt he shops of any town in the south of England". These were no doubt similar to this one. Part of a continuous group (see separate listings for 30-38 High Street). Timber frame conservatory with stone base added to rear, 1991.
