Description

Late 19th century 3-storey and attic gushet, commercial and
domestic block with renaissance ornament. Stugged red
ashlar, polished dressings. West-facing canted 3-bay end
has pair tall octagonal ashlar flues rising from corbelled
shafts and flanking steep-pitched facetted and iron-finialed
slate roof. Shops at ground (ground level built up to S at
Bridge Street), series of depressed-arched wide 1st floor
openings with timber mullions and transomes. Single and
mullioned 2nd floor windows in architraves (pedimented at W,
stone wallhead dormer over); pedimented bipartite dormers
to N; Westmorland slate roof.
Canted E wall with scrolled skewputts and corniced stacks.
