Description

Late 18th century. Long 3-storey and attic tenement in irregular terrace. Harled, raised painted margins.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 2 halves; that to left with 5-bay ground floor of central doorway and 2 windows flanking, 5 windows at 1st floor that to centre blocked, 3 windows at 2nd floor, 2 piended dormers. Section to right; 5-bay ground floor, 4 windows at 1st floor, 5 windows at 2nd floor that 2nd from left blocked, 2 piended dormer. Panel to centre at 1st floor inscribed "The SEAMEN'S HALL. This society was instituted in 1664".

W ELEVATION: adjoining 8 Wharf Street.

E ELEVATION: adjoining 13 Wharf Street.

4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate pitched roofs, stone skews, skewputts. Broad brick stacks on party walls.

Converted into apartments (circa 1995). Part of the 1-12 Wharf Street B Group. Plain traditional tenements contributing to harbourscape.
