Description

James Drummond, architect, Matthew Gemmell, sculptor, 1835. Circa 3m high Stevenston sandstone ashlar obelisk on plinth. Obelisk with stop-chamfered arrises. Plinth with consoled canted corners and convex sided base and cornice. Very bad spalling patched with cement. Granite plaque restating lost inscription circa 1975.

Statement of Interest

The monument stands next to the Martyr's Church in the cemetery, and marks the burial place of the James Algie and John Park, who 'suffered at the Cross of Paisley for refusing the Oath of Abjuration,

February 3 1685'.
