Description

Mid 19th century. Bridge carrying S avenue over Endrick Water. Cast-iron girder bridge with ashlar terminal piers, pyramidal caps; ashlar boundary walls with saddleback coping. Bowed Double Warren truss; semicircular arch.

Statement of Interest

The bridge is marked "suspension bridge" on the 1st edition map. Buchanan Castle is listed in the inventory of designed landscapes. Most of the estate lies within Central Region. The S Avenue gates, Gargowan lodge and Woodend lodge are listed separately within West Dumbartonshire.
