Description

1868. Ashlar altar-tomb on granite base with 2-stage moulded plinth and top stage with quatrefoil panels, at least 1 with carved bird. Corniced cope stone (now on ground close by) with incised lettering (see Notes) to chamfered margins.

Statement of Interest

Erected to the memory of Colonel Robert Munro Ferguson of Raith and Novar died 27th November, 1868; the lettering still evident includes the words 'RAITH', 'NOVAR' and 'LIEUTENANT'. Millar remarked upon the "picturesque spot within the grounds of Raith" where this grave is located.
