Description

Mid 19th century with later alterations. 2-storey, 2-bay (3-bay at ground) rectangular-plan symmetrical house adjoining 2-storey 3-bay house to left (N), listed separately. Harled with cement margins to openings at ground. Base course.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: deep-set, timber-framed door at ground in bay to centre; rectangular fanlight. Window at each floor in each bay flanking.

12-pane timber sash and case windows; 2 evenly disposed rooflights to W pitch. Grey slate roof; stone ridge; harled, corniced gablehead stack to S; common, coped stack to N; stone skews; uPVC rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1998.

Statement of Interest

A relatively unchanged house forming part of the east side of Victoria Street. It retains a 12-pane glazing pattern in deep-set openings, and broad chimney stacks of traditional Orkney proportion.
