History

Probably early C18, from the time of acquisition of Llangedwyn Hall by Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, 3rd Baronet, and the laying out of the avenue and ornamental gardens.

Exterior

A pair of rusticated yellow stone gatepiers about 3 m high, with moulded base, cornice and ball finials. Pair of simple wrought-iron gates with dog bars and a wicket gate in each (now closed); ornamental overthrow with crest (restored). The original walls or railings at each side of the gateway have been lost and replaced by low modern brick walls.

Reasons for Listing

A fine C18 entrance feature integral to the formal gardens layout at Llangedwyn Hall.
