History

Farmhouse. Probably late C17 or early C18, but refronted in the later C18 or early C19.

Exterior

Brick with close studded timber framing and brick infill in rear wall. Slate roof with end wall stacks. 2 storeys, 2-unit plan with central entrance. Plank door, flanked by 3-light casement windows with cambered brick heads. Rear wing probably an early C19 addition, with some C20 extensions to its rear. Interior retains significant elements of the original plan, the main hall with inglenook fireplace and chamfered spine beam, and the parlour bisected down its length to form a small service room to the rear. The parlour was probably originally an unheated room, since its chimney is clearly a much later addition.

Reasons for Listing

An early C18 vernacular farmhouse, retaining much of its original form.
