Exterior

Canal bridge No 5 on the Guilsfield Branch of the Montgomeryshire Canal constructed 1794-1797. Brick arch and abutments, with sandstone copings.
Parabolic arch of 33cm brick, partially rendered under soffit, the abutments splayed at both ends ending in 45cm brick piers. Stone string at water level and 5 housing slots for maintenance. Parapet rises at an angle along the abutments and flattens over the bridge, capped by a flush square stone coping. On NE side, an oval cast iron identification plate with figure 5.
