Exterior

Description: Mile post, c.1820 for the Montgomeryshire Turnpike Trust. Cast iron, a hollow triangle in plan with the top sloping back to a half-round headplate. Inscribed with raised lettering reading, on the left side CANNOFFICE / 5 / -. On the right MEIFOD / 5½ / -, and on the backplate LLANSANTFFRAID / 12 / -.

Included as a well-preserved example of a C19 cast iron mile post surviving in the locality.
