On the Newtown to Machynlleth Turnpike, established after the Montgomeryshire Turnpike Act of 1769.

Exterior

Description: Roughly-hewn sandstone block c1.2m high, hammer-dressed to front. The stone bears traces of white paint, with black paint highlighting the engraved letters:
NEWT 12
MACH 16.
